This 7″ Honeycomb is reported to launch with Android 3.2 Honeycomb.
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 was the first Honeycomb tablet to make way to the Indian market and it was commercially successful to some extent. Today, there are a bunch of Honeycomb tablets in the market and the users are in a dilemma in picking the best one. Probably to solve that dilemma, Acer is going to launch a new 7″ Honeycomb tablet called the Acer Iconia Tab A100. With a very pocketable 7″ form factor, this new tablet will surely appeal to a lot of fans.
Acer Germany has said via Facebook that the tablet could be launched sometime during September, though it was supposed to launch it much earlier than that. Acer has decided to maintain official silence over the delay. However, the best part is that the tablet could be launched with Android 3.2 instead of 3.1 which is a very welcome move. Interestingly, Google has made it clear that the Android 3.2 user interface is not meant for smaller display sizes. As far as the specs of the device is concerned, the Iconia Tab A100 will come packed with a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor like the A500, 512 MB of RAM and in 8 or 16 GB of storage capacities.
Google+ has been well received by enthusiasts and is giving Facebook a run for its money. Aparently, the latter won’t go down without a fight. Google is well known for its mobile integration, and FB knows that the popularity of Google+’s mobile offering can potentially eat into its userbase. Therefore, the world’s most “liked” social network has now released a Java-based app that works on almost any mobile available in the market.
Reports speak of RAM being doubled from 2 GB to 4 GB, ahead of Mac OS Lion release.
The internet is rife with reports on the goodies lined up for MacBook Air‘s impending update. The inbuilt SSD drive is expected to be doubled from 64 GB to 128 GB, up to a maximum of 256 GB for the high end models. The default RAM configuration of 2 GB will also be doubled to 4 GB in anticipation of the impending Mac OS Lion. This is especially remarkable because this upgrade is worth $100 (Rs 4500 approx) otherwise. Other improvements to the new MacBook include a back-lit keyboard, a claimed battery life of 7 hours, latest Sandy Bridge based Intel processors, upgraded graphics, and the much touted Thunderbolt interface. The new MacBook Air range is expected to release at the end of next week.

Road accidents kill 13 lakh people every year, while Indians make up two lakh of these fatalities. To put this into perspective, India houses less than 1% of automobiles worldwide, but still accounts for a staggering 15% of total road traffic deaths. A vast majority of these casualties are attributed to driver errors, some of which are caused by fatigued motorists dozing off at the wheel. Fortunately, Chinese ingenuity has spawned a cheap and inexpensive solution dubbed No Nap, which promises to prevent drivers from nodding off.
How It Works
No Nap is a nifty anti-snooze alarm that sounds an audible tone when the driver falls asleep at the wheel. This potentially lifesaving device clips onto your ear and stays put as long as your head is upright. As soon as you tilt your head forwards, say when nodding off to sleep, a ball bearing shifts position and shorts the circuit connected to the inbuilt speaker. This activates an alarm that blasts an effective 100 dB beep, jolting the driver into consciousness. Powered by three button cells, the mechanism is simple yet effective.
A cheaper, but considerably more uncomfortable, all-plastic alternative can be purchased from DealExtreme.com for $1.7 (Rs 75 approx), shipping included. However, that will take well over a month to reach your doorstep. Unlike the previous all-plastic version, No Nap’s revised design is relatively more ergonomic and secure, thanks to a soft rubber clip that hooks onto your ear. Moreover, the updated version is slim enough to be used in conjunction with spectacles. This cannot be said of the original. Its light weight ensures that wearing one isn’t much of an annoyance. Bikers can use this device too, provided the helmet isn’t too tight.
Google seems to be on a product launching spree, as it launched a new photo service known as Photovine. The service was developed by a company named Slide, which was acquired by Google in 2010 for an estimated $228 million.
The home page of Photovine has nothing but a few links and an image of the application in action. Just like Google+, you can become a member by invitation only. The tagline below the logo states, “plant a photo, watch it grow“. There is not much information beyond this on either the home page, other than a video demonstrating Photovine.
Take a look at the official Photovine video below:
